Another successful Smarter Sustainable Solutions Conference by Mpact Plastic Containers
On the 24th and 25th of May 2022, Mpact Plastic Containers hosted their second annual Smarter, Sustainable Solutions conference in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
As the name suggests, the conference focused on providing solutions to a range of industries that are both smarter and sustainable. We realised there was a gap in the market for a platform where delegates can network and discuss industry trends. Mpact’s conference closed this gap by creating a space where thought-provoking ideas from different industries are heard. Delegates across a range of industries around South Africa gathered to learn more and discuss topics of relevance to help move businesses forward.
Mpact Plastic Containers Managing Director, Mr. Loutjie De Jongh opened the conference by explaining why “The world is changing faster than you think” and created an exciting discussion with his address.
The hybrid event gave attendees the opportunity to view the world through the eyes of industry experts, as they presented insightful topics and future trends. Some of the discussions included the economic outlook and interest rates, worldwide shipping trends, logistics, fresh produce impact, future food trends and climate change, recycling and sustainability and others.
Talks were addressed by world-class thought leaders such as Dr Roelof Botha (global economist), Vusi Mthetwa (founder of Tetrad), Doris Viljoen (Director of future studies at the international research facility, USB) and many others.
Delegates were also given the opportunity to discuss in-depth industry perspectives in break-away rooms. The break-away sessions were well received by all, and many appreciated that they were able to relate to others facing the same challenges.
For some delegates, this was their first Mpact conference and the feedback received was positive. Networking opportunities and invaluable insights are always appreciated.
An add-on to the conference was a murder mystery themed evening which included some great prizes for the winners. To end the evening, delegates enjoyed live entertainment by an internationally renowned quartet, Sterling EQ.
As we continue to move forward into the new normal, this year’s world-class conference proved to be bigger and better than the last. Expectations for the next conference are even higher and Mpact Plastic Containers has no doubt that they will deliver.
